Miami's Mexican food fanatics have one more place to feed their cravings without hightailing it to Homestead. The fast casual Salsa Fiesta chain (and winner of our Best Taco 2012 award) opened an Aventura location earlier this month.

The expanding enterprise launched locations in Miami and Pembroke Pines in 2009 and 2011, respectively. The new spot makes three, and according to the co-owner, they've seen lines out the door since opening day.

Owners Cesar Olivo, Adriana Perez Benatar and Samuel Perez Benatar are the familial trio behind the health-conscious brand.

"It has been our longtime goal to expand the Salsa Fiesta concept throughout South Florida. Having just opened our third store in Aventura, we want to focus on making that location a success," Olivo told Short Order.

The new location's menu is identical to the other two, and includes a new item, introduced to the other restaurants in October: "tortas" sandwiches, made with homemade Mexican griddled telera bread.

One variety is the "zocalo", with grilled chicken, avocado, chipotle black beans, poblano rajas, Chihuahua cheese, creamy cilantro salsa and arugula, their signature Hot Tamale salsa and an arugula side salad for $8.99.

The Aventura outpost features colorful, Mayan-inspired decor, reclaimed wood walls and exposed ceilings, as well as indoor and outdoor seating.

Like the other Miami locations, the new one will be serving brunch on Saturdays and Sundays from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m., and happy hour Monday through Friday from 3 to 7 p.m. The chain bills itself as eco-friendly, and the new locale will serve up organic, non-toxic, biodegradable bamboo plates. They also use real silverware and reusable plastic cups.

We love it when tasty eats are also easy on the conscience.
