Need help navigating your way through Wynwood during Art Basel this weekend? Well, there's an app for that.

Wynwood Tour Guide is an iPhone app developed by Zoel, CEO of Rokkstar Enterprises Inc., and David McCauley, founder of Rise Up gallery -- two locals with a love of bringing the community together.

The app serves as a visual guide through Wynwood and features an easy-to-use interface that helps users explore neighborhood. From restaurants and coffee shops to art galleries and murals, you'll never have to worry about getting lost in Miami's burgeoning outdoor museum.

Short Order spoke with McCauley about the duo's inspiration, design, and goals.

Short Order: What inspired you both to develop the app?

David McCauley: Over the past year, I've had many tourists and locals come in to Rise Up gallery looking for more information about the galleries and murals in the neighborhood. I didn't think an annually produced map reflected the latest incarnation of Wynwood, so we decided to develop an app which was a walking tour through the neighborhood which had up to date information.

Wynwood is essentially an outdoor museum so we wanted to show where to find the outdoor murals and provide information about the artists. We are able to update it on a monthly basis so it is accurate when galleries change locations, murals get painted over, and new businesses open.

How long did it take to develop the app?

We have been developing since May and since then Zoel has taken over 2,000 photographs of the neighborhood.

What inspired the apps' logo?

The logo is a screenshot of the home screen on the Apple iPhone, which has several rotating murals as the background.

What are you hoping users will get out of the app this Basel weekend?

I hope people in town for Basel are able to locate their favorite street artist murals, as well as galleries showing work in which they have interest. Essentially, we just want to make the neighborhood easy to explore for locals and tourists alike and bring the community together in the process.

Wynwood Tour Guide is available for purchase on iTunes for $1.99. Visit itunes.apple.com.
