Last January unemployment in South Florida was creeping up towards 12 percent. While many Miamian's scoured the classifieds, then 23-year-old Francesca Fernandez opened a frozen yogurt shop in Coral Gables. This week, she celebrates the one-year anniversary of My Yogurt Bliss, a self-serve yogurt bar where you completely customize your frozen treat. The Miami native is commemorating the milestone by expanding her offerings to include a make-your-own milkshake. Same concept: load up the cup with your favorite yogurt flavor and add any of the 60 choices ranging from granola and blackberries to graham crackers and peanut butter cups.
We have to wonder if the words "yogurt" and "peanut butter cups" should even be in the same sentence, but Francesca tells us, "The yogurt at My Yogurt Bliss is healthy because it provides active live cultures. The milkshake is as healthy as you want it to be."
So next time you're feeling indulgent, but that New Year's resolution is holding you back, trick yourself into a frozen treat and leave the calorie counting for Monday. It's all weighed at the end and you pay $0.48 per ounce so watch out for that cookie dough weighing you down in more ways than one.
