Mothers Day is on Sunday, May 10th, Are you ready? Do you care? Will you go out to eat?

Short Order is here to give you the opportunity to plan ahead by surveying various restaurants around town.

We recently dialed up some numbers out of our extensive restaurant database to divine Mothers Day specials. (Lookout for part 2 to this series coming soon.) Here are some of the responses we got.

Rosa Mexicano

Miami, FL 33130

Chef J. England - "I think it's a great place to go, white tablecloth, more upscale, authentic, Mexican food. We'll have lamb shank braised in parchment paper, brunch from 12 noon - 3 p.m., huevos rancheros, chilaquiles, torjejas which are Mexican style french toast. It's delicious, out of this world, with almonds piloncillo syrup. The chilaquiles are my personal favorite.

We'll also have Mexican style eggs benedict: poached egs on top of two light fluffy crab cakes with mexican bernaise sauce.

It's really a family-type restaurant. We try to make it open for everybody, light, airy, really nice setting, windows, waterfall. Everything here is fresh made, it's all done fresh everyday, youre watching the girls make the tortillas fresh by hand, all the sauces are made fresh in my kitchen that day. You'll feel like you been transported to a small restaurant in Oaxaca. A lot of the art work we have is from different parts of Mexico.

Liz Martinez, a former Miami New Timeser now at the joint says:  We like to do choices where you pick an app, entree, and dessert from our most popular items -- typical, small Spanish dishes like codfish fritters. A lot of people say our croquetas are some of the best in town. There's paella, short ribs that we cook forever, cochinillo, fresh seafood.

It's just such a pretty place aesthetically, and we don't do the same old brunch, We try stay away from that, We like to give a lot of choices. The most special thing is that it is different, and moms will get a free mimosa. We never say no to anybody, it's all about the customer here.

A girl who answered phone says: "We have the best fish around Florida. The food is amazing. We will be running specials. It's good for any occasion. Sharina: We have really good food, a lot of people think we're really good, we have the best bagels, theyre pretty close to new york bagels. Old people tend to love our everything bagels with poppy, garlic, onion, sesames, all that. The everything is definitely the favorite for the older people.

Breakfast is really hearty. Big portions, it's about $7.50 for a good breakfast, if you're lookin for a good breakfast you got the right place. Even a customer is nodding her head right now in front of me.

New Times: Can you pass her the phone so I can hear what she thinks?

Customer Debbie: I think it'll be very crowded, really crowded, You could be waiting in line, I think the food is really good, I think the food is great. I think the bagels are great and breakfast is great.

Bali Cafe

Ari: Of course we open for Mother's day. In Indonesia it on the 21st of December, yes. Mother get presents, all family goes, It similar to Christmas. It more at home and open. More like family, more than mother birthday.

Food here is best. For mother? Fried rice like I say, something simple and good maybe. I don't know, something, Lobster, kind of curry with shrimp, tofu, like that, egg and rice noodle, $12.99. I think that one is super nice for my mom if she come here.

Dessert? We have a Bali special, mixed fruit, gelatin and ice cream, like $6, tall glass. Kind of red, we have avocado ice cream, coconut ice cream, any kind of fruit, not too sweet, similar to green tea.
