Michael Mina's new restaurant at the Fontainebleau Miami Beach is scheduled to open in November 2013 -- in time for the rush that Art Basel and the holiday season brings.
Michael Mina 74 will open in the iconic resort's lobby, in the Arkadia space and is quite a departure from Mina's reserved Bourbon Steak at Turnberry Isle Resort & Club. A new restaurant concept for Mina, it's described as blurring the lines "between a restaurant, bar, and ultra-lounge."

The restaurant is being created by design firm AvroKO, taking cues from the Mediterranean. Plenty of booths and banquettes lit with candles will provide intimate spaces. Of course, there will be a DJ. The restaurant is designed to be a one-stop destination, with the intent that guests will come for dinner, then stay through the evening.
Chef Mina calls his soon-to-open restaurant/lounge a "perfect balance of delicious food" with "an upbeat sophisticated ambiance".
The menu will focus on American bistro classics, with a nod to Miami. Items include potato-crusted pompano, grilled red snapper, spiny lobster spaghetti, Jerk quail with foie gras rice and sugar pumpkin, roasted suckling pig "Cubano style", and miso-glazed black cod with ramen noodles.
The beverage program will feature a global wine selection and cocktails with house-made infusions.
