7-Eleven Day
It's July in Miami. That means 90 degree temperatures and afternoon thunderstorms that only make it hotter out. You know what you need? A cold Slurpee -- the icy beverage that causes a painful-yet-pleasurable brain freeze and stains your tongue bright red or blue. Now, how about getting one for free? Today is July 11, better known as 7-Eleven day and America's favorite convenience store is giving away free small Slurpees to anyone until 7 p.m. We feel cooler just talking about it.
National Mojito Day
You know what other made up holiday falls on this day? National Mojito Day. Yeah. We know it's not exactly Christmas, but seriously any excuse to have a mojito is a good one. For extra points, try the coconut mojito at 15th & Vine ($14). Made with Flor de Caña rum, lime juice, simple syrup, Coco Lopez, and mint, its creamy, minty taste is perfect for a Miami afternoon.
International Mango Festival
Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden's 22nd annual Mango Festival is this weekend, so get your fill of all things mango-related. There's a mango tasting room, mango-flavored treats to savor, a rare mango auction, and kiddie activities. If this mango overload isn't enough, take home a baby mango tree, nurture it, and soon you'll have your very own stash of the sweet fruit. $25 for adults; members and kids free.

Ferris Opens With a Full Moon Party
Want to howl at the moon? Ferris pop-up opens this Saturday at Sole on the Ocean with a full beachside blowout complete with belly dancers, fire twirlers, a drum circle, and lots of food and drink. The party is RSVP-only, so shoot an email to [email protected]. Fun starts at 6 p.m.
World Cup Finals
The World Cup Finals takes place Sunday. Tongue & Cheek is hosting a watch party on the beach with $1 oysters, $2 beef cheek sliders, $4 craft beers, and $8 cocktails. Sip, chew, and slurp as you watch the game on two large HD screens.
If you want a blowout block party, Segafredo Brickell will host the official City of Miami's World Cup Finals Street Party. Starting at noon on Sunday, about 10,000 people are expected to eat, drink, enjoy live music, and (of course) watch the game!
