Miami Marathon: Pre- and Post-Race Deals for Runners

The 17th-annual Miami Marathon and Half-Marathon will take place this Sunday. About 25,000 runners are expected to fill the streets of Miami and Miami Beach. Traditionally, the evening before a big race, runners carbo-load by scarfing down steaming bowls of pasta to store energy for the miles to come.

The 17th-annual Miami Marathon and Half-Marathon will take place this Sunday. About 25,000 runners are expected to fill the streets of Miami and Miami Beach.

Traditionally, the evening before a big race, runners carbo-load by scarfing down steaming bowls of pasta to store energy for the miles to come.

To help, a few area restaurants are offering special pre-marathon dinners. Plus, other establishments will celebrate runners' accomplishments with post-marathon deals.

Pre-Marathon

Dolce Italian at the Gale Hotel. A hearty pappardelle alla Bolognese features house-made pappardelle noodles and braised beef, veal, and pork ragu ($26). 1690 Collins Ave., Miami Beach; 305-673-0199; dolceitalianrestaurant.com.

Estiatorio Milos.
This restaurant, known for its impeccable seafood, offers lobster pasta for runners. The dish features fresh lobster and spaghetti prepared with olive oil, onions, and tomato sauce (MP). 730 First St.,

La Mar by Gaston Acurio. This Friday and Saturday, the restaurant inside the Mandarin Oriental will offer tallarin saltado with bucatini pasta, stir-fried tenderloin, red onions, tomatoes, green onions, soy sauce, and cilantro ($29) and quinoa chaufa with shrimp, calamari, octopus, red quinoa, nikkei sauce, pickled veggies, and red peppers ($28). 500 Brickell Key Dr., Miami; 305-913-8358; mandarinoriental.com/miami.

Scarpetta. Scott Conant's Italian restaurant inside the Fontainebleau will offer marathon runners a prix fixe. Priced at $39, not including tax and tip, the meal is available from 6 to 8 p.m. this Friday and Saturday. The menu includes a choice of burrata, arugula salad, or creamy polenta for antipastio. The main course includes a choice of spaghetti with tomato and basil; tagliatelle with wild mushroom, asparagus, and truffle sabayon; or duck and foie gras raviolioli with marsala reduction. Post-Marathon


Addikt. After the marathon, runners who show their race number at this brunch spot atop the W Miami will receive half-priced bottomless drinks with brunch this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. 485 Brickell Ave., Miami; 305-503-0373; marriott.com/hotels.

La Mar by Gastón Acurio. Runners can enjoy Sunday brunch from noon to 3:30 p.m. Peruvian specialties include pescado escabeche, tallarines verdes with beef Milanese, and lomo saltado with fried egg. There will also be elaborate stations of fresh seafood and savory grilled items, chaufa aeropuerto for the table, and unlimited brunch cocktails, select wines, and Tattinger champagne.
