Tonight , the Miami Heat takes on the Celtics in game 2 of the NBA finals eastern conference semifinals (at 7 p.m.). Local restaurants DB Bistro Moderne, Chophouse and Oceanaire are hailing the team with high-end menu specials and freebies on game day. This series is unlikely to end quickly, so take the time to pig out on stuff waaayy better than what they sell at the stadium. Get the lowdown on deals after the jump.
The "Pre-Heat" menu at DB Bistro Moderne includes a choice of three courses for $38, either before or after the game (6 - 7 p.m., 10 - 11 p.m.). Chef Daniel Boulud's modern French fare
is well represented with offerings such as pâté de campagne,
vichyssoise, moules and frites, his cavatelli with crispy pork belly, and a chocolate soufflé for dessert. Plus,
show off your tickets and get the first drink free. The prix fixe menu is valid now through June 1, and if you
decide to stay overnight at the newly finessed JW Marriott, they'll cut you a deal on a deluxe room as well. Just ask for the "Miami Heat Day" offer.
Miami's Chophouse
has a dinner menu designed for fans, available only on home game days.
For $49.99, select one of four entree choices - merlot glazed lamb
chops, a porcini-encrusted filet mignon, 20-oz. prime rib, or if you
must restrain from red meat
in this carnivorarama, try the miso-glazed salmon. A choice of brownie or cheesecake
doesn't exactly rock the foundation of creative dessert-istry, but since
it's part of the package, consider it the meal equivalent of a
three-pointer. Very satisfying.
Oceanaire is celebrating tonight with a never-ending happy hour. Menu specials that normally run from 4 to 7 p.m. will be extended until closing time for game-day fanatics. Beer is only $3, and "specialty martinis and drinks" range from from $5 to $6. Fried shrimp, fish and chips and red chili calamari can all be yours for $5 each. A "trio" of plump oysters with mignonette is only $6, making this threesome nearly as impressive as the Heat's own Big Three.
