Miami's on one heck of a brunch kick, and why not? It's arguably the most exciting meal of the week, usually enjoyed with a group of friends or loved ones, and likely involves drinking alcoholic beverages long before the sun sets.
Three of Miami's newest hot spots have introduced brunch -- each with their own takes on our favorite way to spend a lazy weekend afternoon.
MC Kitchen
The food
Dena Marino fuses Italian rustic foods and traditional brunch classics together for brunch like stove oven baked eggs
with spicy sausage, spinach, brioche and fontina béchamel ($12); Ribollita Tuscan bread soup
made with vegetables, Tuscan cabbage, white beans, torn croutons and unfiltered olive oil ($8); black truffle bruschetta
with poached egg, shaved truffles, crispy prosciutto and creamy parmigiano fonduta ($24);
Parmigiano Reggiano cavatelli
with tomato sauce and basil spuma ($15).
The booze: Pair your Italian feast with a Dogfish Head beer cocktail.
The hours: Mangia your heart out Saturdays and Sundays from 11:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
PB Steak
The food
Brunch at a steak house? Well,sure. Where else are you going to get the best steak and eggs of your life? At PB Steak, you can choose your cut of steak and how you like your eggs- which would make any real cowboy quake in their boots with envy. Order a blue crab pudding for the table...trust us on this one.
The booze: Bourbon for brunch? That's what John Wayne would have ordered. Special bourbon cocktails and a house bloody mary are offered, as well as a raspberry bellini for tenderfoots.
The hours: Mosey over on Sundays from noon - 3 p.m.
Khong River House
The food
Chef Bee's been very busy, putting together a menu of creations that bring Thai flavors to breakfast favorites like coconut and sesame street market pancakes($14); a pork belly curry omelette ($15); pad mi korat, a thin rice noodle stir fry with minced pork, crispy tofu, and dried shrimp ($12); steamed buns filled with chicken, pork, shrimp, or sausage and egg ($13 for three); and four different bahn mi's.
The booze: Bottomless cocktails ensure a long brunch and a cab ride home. Choose from Death in the Afternoons (Hemingway's Hangover Cure)
