When Oprah Winfrey calls your product the "best cake in America" you know that you're in for a swarm of people.

So when Oprah's pal Gayle King visited Icebox Cafe on Lincoln Road in 2006, magical things happened for the little bakery and cafe that specializes in serving cake and coffee (and champagne), in addition to an entire savory menu.

That put Icebox Cafe on the map, with Miami tourists seeking out the little industrial-designed cafe to dine on Devil Dog cake and Key Lime pie -- all made fresh daily. Of course, locals also flock to the little eatery in search of brunch and a leisurely sugar rush.

But, if you've been to Icebox Cafe on a weekend, you've probably encountered a wait to get your ice cream cake fix. Which is one of the reasons owner Robert Siegmann is relocating to Sunset Harbour.

The new space, at 1855 Purdy Ave., will feature indoor seating for 100 and outdoor spaces for 20. In addition, the adjoining city parking garage will offer 400 covered spaces at a reasonable costs -- making this area very attractive to locals.

The new Icebox Cafe will have a full bar, including an expanded wine list, a great selection of micro brews, with several on draft, and signature cocktails. In addition, the cafe will boast an open kitchen, an expanded dinner menu, and a rotisserie.

But, don't worry -- because all your current favorite cakes and menu items will be coming along to the larger space.

The decor will also stay largely the same, with the familiar industrial "flavor", but a few "tweaks", including cozy banquettes to snuggle up in.

Though an official opening date hasn't been set, Siegmann is targeting a mid-May date -- just in time for Mother's Day brunch.

In the meantime, we suggest heading out to the Lincoln Road cafe this weekend for one last meal and cake fix to last you until the re-launch. Icebox Cafe will serve brunch, lunch, and dinner on Saturday, April 29, from 9 a.m. to midnight; Sunday, April 28, from 9 a.m. to 11 p.m.
