Frita Man's Jean Beltran was arrested Monday, April 9, outside his home after allegedly pulling a gun on Grill Master Café owner Raymond Delgado.
According to Delgado, Beltran called him Monday around 2 p.m. after he found his website had been hacked. There was a picture of the Grill Master Café truck posted on the site. Beltran accused Delgado, who denied any knowledge of the hacking.
Delgado said, Beltran "threatened to kick my ass. I said, 'Let's meet somewhere and talk it out.'" They hung up and Delgado went home to shower and change.
Around 3 p.m., Delgado said Beltran was "waiting for me outside my front door. He put a gun to my head. Then he left and I called the
cops, and they went to his house and they arrested him."
Asked if he thought the owner of Frita Man would shoot, Delgado replied,
"I didn't even think about that. I just closed the door. I was fearing
for my life, so I closed the door and I locked it. It was very quick."
Delgado
told Short Order that he and Beltran both organize food truck events
and that Beltran was "stealing" some events, including the longstanding
Mother of Christ Church roundup, by undercutting the Grill Master Café owner. Delgado said he didn't do anything about that because, "I have
three food trucks and he is jealous."
Beltran is being charged
with aggravated assault with a firearm and probation violation. A bail
hearing is set for today. In addition, a stay-away order was issued
for Beltran to keep his distance from Delgado.
Beltran couldn't be reached for comment.
