Despite the incorrect prognostications of the Mayans, the Heaven's Gate whack-jobs, and Pat Robertson, the fact remains that the world could theoretically end anytime. Hell, we could be going about our daily drudgery and suddenly get smacked by a comet, rendering us all into dust. Just ask the dinosaurs.
If and when the end of the world comes, it's good to know where your priorities lie. We spoke with several Miami mixologists about what they'd drink if Earth was on its way out. Think the best of the boozy best. Forget your last meal -- it's your last drink that counts.

"Not an easy choice -- there are a lot of good things to think about. I believe for a symbolic point of view and a tribute to the professor Jerry Thomas, I'd choose 'the Blue Blazer.' The continuous stream of fire back and forth will be the right ceremony to the end of the world -- plus the hot temperature and the power of the bourbon will keep me warm for eternity."
The Blue Blazer
- 2 oz. Bookers bourbon
- 2 oz. boiling water
- 1 sugar cube
- 1 orange zest

"I'd have to say that under the theoretical circumstance I'd be drinking and holding close to my heart a Dogfish Head 60 Minute IPA. Nothing else will do!"

"That's a tough question. I tend to overanalyze things. Like where would I be drinking this cocktail, whom would I be with? Great cocktails deserve great company. I love bourbon and would never mix a high quality aged bourbon with another ingredient, but on this occasion I would have Jefferson's Ocean with a little dolin rouge, aperol and aromatic bitters. Fresh orange zest and a scent of burnt rosemary, it's a cocktail that I just recently fell in love with."
Jefferson's Ocean, (It's a play off of the Boulevardier cocktail)
- 1.5 oz bourbon
- .75 oz dolin rouge
- .75 oz aperol
- Dash of aromatic bitters
- Stir in a mixing glass
- Pour into a glass, soak a Rosemary stem in Bourbon and light with a match wave over cocktail for Aromatics
- Peel orange zest and squeeze oils over cocktail and glass
- Garnish with the existing Rosemary stem

If the world were to end, I would like to enjoy a drink I created called the Scottish Toa.
Scottish Toa
- It's equal parts Dewars 12
- Ron Zacapa 23 year old Solera
- Licor 43
- Add all ingredients and mixing glass and stir
- Strain into Rocks glass and garnish with my homemade Bourbon-infused cherries.

"I think it would have to be a proper margarita. There's nothing like the flavor combination of salty, tart and smoky. It would have to be lime juice, Herradura Tequila Reposado with a touch of Cointreau. Salty and tart hit the same flavor receptors plus you have the texture of the salted rim. SO GOOD!"
