One month down, 11 more to go before the so-called end of the world, and if you forgot to celebrate any of January's food holidays due to work, school, prison, food coma, etc., fret not faithful foodie 'cause February offers some interesting meal ideas for you--and your dog too.
Valentine's Day is often thought to dominate February, but the second month of the year is also known as time to celebrate canned foods, berries, cherries, potatoes, sweet potatoes, grapefruit, fiber, fondue, hot breakfast, snack food and chocolate.
And for some week-long celebrations, there is pickle week (first week), Great American Pizza Bake and Kraut and Frankfurter weeks (second week) and National Pancake Week (fourth week).
Remember also that this is a leap year, so if you miss the Feb. 29 foodie holiday, you can't celebrate it until 2016--or sooner if you just go to Red Lobster.

February 1 -- National Baked Alaska Day. What is baked alaska? It's a delectable dessert made of ice cream lined with layers of sponge cake or Christmas pudding and surrounded by meringue.
February 2 -- Heavenly Hash Day (this day could technically be celebrated on 4/20, er, wait).
February 3 -- National Carrot Cake Day
February 4 -- National Stuffed Mushroom Day and Homemade Soup Day
February 5 -- National Chocolate Fondue Day and World Nutella Day
February 6 -- None! (ideas anyone?)
February 7 -- National Fettuccine Alfredo Day
February 8 -- Molasses Bar Day
February 9 -- National Bagels and Lox Day and Pizza Pie Day
February 10 -- Cream Cheese Brownie Day
February 11 -- Peppermint Patty Day and Don't Cry Over Spilled Milk Day
February 12 -- National Plum Pudding Day
February 13 -- National Tortellini Day
February 14 -- National Creme-Filled Chocolates Day (also national cream pie day, if you catch our drift).
February 15 -- National Gumdrop Day
February 16 -- National Almond Day
February 17 -- National Indian Pudding Day
February 18 -- Crab-stuffed Flounder Day and Drink Wine Day (seriously a great combo).
February 19 -- National Chocolate Mint Day
