DigitalOne is a Web hosting company based in Switzerland, with dozens of major Web clients in the United States.
The F.B.I. was investigating the Lutz Security Group and affiliated hackers and when it took the servers assigned to Lutz, it confiscated entire server racks with I.P. addresses not linked to the companies in question, according to an e-mail statement issued by DigitalOne's chief executive, Sergej Ostroumow.
The seizure affected several of DigitalOne's clients not involved with the raid, including Curbed Network, which owns food site Eater.
Curbed Network's president, Lockhart Steele said yesterday, ""Our servers happened to be in with some naughty servers." Curbed is working to get its sites back online, hopefully sometime today.
