The City of Coral Gables may have to consider rebranding its food fest. Instead of one week, Coral Gables Restaurant Week actually spans three weeks, from June 10 - 30.
Either way, it all starts tomorrow with Taste of the Gables at the Westin Colonnade Hotel, where attendees can sample tasty tidbits from 20 restaurants as well as vote for their choice of best "Taste" dish. Advance general admission to the kick-off event cost $25 per person, but you can also attend VIP-style for $50 ($35 and $65 at the door).
If you miss the Taste of the Gables, don't fret. You've got three weeks to dine at your choice of three-course prix-fixe menus at over 30 area restaurants as well as several ticketed events to attend.
Restaurants offering a prix-fixe dining experience include Swine Southern Table & Bar, Seasons 52, the Local Craft Food & Drink, Bread & Butter Counter, Ruth's Chris Steakhouse, La Provencal, Sushi Maki, Tarpon Bend, Fritz & Franz Bierhaus, Café Abbraci, Miss Saigon Bistro, and Morton's the Steakhouse, plus plenty more. Prix-fixe menu prices vary from restaurant to restaurant, but lunch ranges between $13 and $25 per person and dinner ranges between $17 and $39 per person.
Events run the gamut from cooking classes to chef dine-n-greets. You'll need to purchase tickets in advance for events such as the pizza making class at Cibo Wine Bar on Wednesday, June 12 ($50 per person), the Midnight Chef's Table at Swine, where you can mingle with Swine's Chef Phillip Bryant and Eating House's Chef Giorgio Rapicavoli ($55 per person), and the Wine Pairing at Seasons 52 ($119 per person).
