Today, July 28, marks Fiestas Patrias, or Peruvian Independence Day. This celebration commemorates the country's independence from the Spanish Empire. In Peru, the party traditionally lasts three days and includes the president's speech, fireworks, bullfights, and military parades. Of course, plenty of food and drinks are involved. The Magic City boasts more than 200 Peruvian restaurants, so it's safe to say Miami is getting in on the party. Here are the best places to celebrate.1111 Peruvian Bistro
This Brickell treasure is celebrating by serving tapas and a pisco-themed beverage for $12. Because the restaurant doesn't have a liquor license, this cocktail has less alcohol but just as much flavor, with nine varieties, including tangerine and ají amarillo. The dishes by El Bulli veteran Diego Muñoz include bao buns, fish escabeche causa, salt-and-pepper fried calamari, steamed mussels, and oysters. Reservations aren't required.
 33 Kitchen
Coconut Grove's newcomer by chef Sebastian Fernandez and boutique owner Leslie Ames Brachowicz is honoring Peruvian's independence by serving specials for $33. Though the restaurant's ceviche and charm are reason alone to visit, the pescado a lo macho salmon seals the deal. Guests also receive a complimentary Peruvian beer, Cusquena. Save your seat on OpenTable.
Pisco y Nazca
This Kendall restaurant is transforming its space into a giant party. Live entertainment featuring Peruvian-American singer Tony Succar will begin at 7 p.m. A festive menu, including two cocktails, will be served ($40 in advance or $50 at the door). The cocktail is made with pisco, lychee purée, fresh lime, St- Germain, raspberry-hibiscus syrup, and Fever-Tree ginger beer. To purchase advance tickets, click here.
La Mar by Gaston Acurio
Chef Diego Oka, along with fellow chefs Victoriano Lopez and Jesus Delgado, will prepare a sumptuous seven-course meal including king crab tiradito topped with American caviar. The dinner costs $75 and includes a chance to win a trip to Lima, Peru, with business-class tickets on LATAM Airlines. For reservations, email [email protected] or call 305-913-8358.
