Looking for somewhere to go on Chinese New Year? Ring in the Year of the Rabbit at one of these Miami restaurants. Celebrations begin on February 2.

Café Sambal at the Mandarin Oriental
Lion dance performances and Asian art in the café's outdoor terrace are part of this celebration. The restaurant will also offer special family-style menu that includes Peking duck ($34), dim sum samples ($16), fried egg rolls ($14), roasted kurobata pork in a four-pepper crust ($36), wok-fried orange and tangerine kobe beef ($38) and sweet and sour snapper ($34). From 6:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. on Saturday, February 5. Reserve by calling 305-913-8358.

Hakkasan
As Lee Klein reported earlier, Hakkasan will offer special menu items like wok-fried lobster, baked fortune chicken, braised dried oyster, stewed pork shank and wok-fried glutinous rice from February 2 to 9. The big celebration, however, takes place on Saturday, February 5 at 9:30 p.m. with lion dance and kung fu performances. Reserve at 1-877-326-7412.

Kon Chau

The menu will be the same but on Sunday, February 6, the restaurant will host a lion dance performance at 1 p.m.

Miss Yip
Both of Miss Yip's locations will host events to ring in the New Year. On Thursday, February 3, festivities will take place all day at the Lincoln Road restaurant but the fun part comes at night. Starting at 10:30 p.m. and until the wee hours of the morning, enjoy performers, lion dances, live DJs and complimentary hors d'oeuvres.

The downtown location will celebrate over three days, from February 3 to February 5. Each evening starting at 5:30 p.m., the restaurant will have live DJs and hold drink specials on Friday and Saturday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Lion dances take place each of the three nights at 9 p.m.

South Garden
On February 2 and 3, South Garden will offer a special menu and lion dances each night at 8 p.m. Some of the dishes offered are Buddha's Delight, braised seafood and tofu and lobster with ginger and scallions. Reservations are required. Call 305-274-9099.

Tony Chan's Water Club
From February 2 to 6, the restaurant will offer a special Chinese New Year menu that includes items such as sea cucumber with basil in a clay pot, lamb chops with special sauce, almond tofu pudding and good luck rice. Go on February 2nd to catch the lion dance performance at 8 p.m.

Tropical Chinese
No special menus here but the popular restaurant will have a lion dance performance on Wednesday, February 2 at 8 p.m.

King Palace will have a special menu but information was not yet available. Chu's Taiwan Kitchen and Bar in the Gables will have a lion dance and kung fu performance on February 3 and 11 but we were told February 3 is completely booked.
