The time has come, Miami. New Times writers are busy choosing our picks for the best food, music, shops, services, and anything else that can be categorized for our annual blockbuster Best of Miami.

But for all of our hard work, there are some of you who think you can do better. We can almost hear you saying, "Those morons really think that's the best burger in Miami?

That's why we have our Readers' Poll. That's where you, oh, constant reader, get the opportunity to chime in and tell us your favorite places to eat, shop, and play in Miami.

There are more than 50 categories, including best food truck, diner, chef, bartender, bakery, pizza, cocktails, and burger. We didn't even mention the non-food categories, like best festival, public restroom, and Twitter feed. There's something for everyone, and we really want your input -- because if you vote, we don't have to hear you whine when your favorite fried chicken doesn't win this year's title.

All you have to do is visit readerschoice.miaminewtimes.com and nominate your favorites. You can either write in your choice or vote from the drop-down items that appear.

When you're finished, click the "Save Your Ballot" button to the left of the categories. You can vote for as many categories as you like (or even change your vote) until May 1, when the nomination process closes.

After that, we'll tally the results and put the top five contenders in each group up for a vote on May 6. The final results will be released June 13, when 2013 Best of Miami hits newsstands.

And here's a little tip for all of you restaurateurs, chefs, and food truck owners: Share this valuable information on your Twitter feeds and tell everyone who comes into your restaurant to vote for you. After all, this is Florida, the home of the hanging chad, where dead people vote, and where every election has a surprise toy inside. Sorry, we're confusing the election process with a box of Cracker Jack.
