100. Dumplings at Chow Down Grill
Joshua Marcus opened his cozy Chow Down Grill restaurant in Surfside last spring, and it was an instant hit with locals. Why not? The fresh, prepared-to-order Chinese/Asian cuisine is delicious and offers real value.
Among the top menu draws are a quartet of memorable dumplings -- Marcus got all the dumpling dough knowhow he needed from stints as sous chef at China Grill and pasta maker at Timo Restaurant. There are jade-green basil dumplings wrapped around a vibrant mince of organic chicken; black squid dumplings filled with shrimp, fennel, and corn; a thin, delicate dough enveloping finely minced beef; and chicken won tons that float in spicy peanut sauce. The dumplings come four for $6.
