A lot of weird things happen in Florida every week. We're here every Friday to give you the weirdest. This week: a thief with a boastful fashion choice, a guy who takes Facebook just a little too seriously, and a woman caught smuggling meat in her pants.
Woman Wearing "Won't Be Caught" Shirt So Far Correct
In March, a woman wore a T-shirt proclaiming "Won't Be Caught" while swiping about $1,500 worth of perfume from an Ulta cosmetics store near Tampa, and so far she's right. A month later, police are still asking for the public's help in locating her.
According to MyFoxTampaBay, Ms. Wontbecaught and a friend walked into the Ulta March 15 and unfolded large bags from their purses. They then swiped the fragrances and walked out in broad daylight. The perfumes included scents form Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, and Polo, but police have identified the woman's shirt as a Nike product.
"Any time that we are challenged, I think it gives us a little more incentive to work harder," Det. Larry McKinnon told the station.
Ugh, police, we all know they work harder when they feel personally insulted (and that's a bit of a problem lately, doesn't it seem?), but anyway, the Hillsborough Sheriff's Office has released video of the woman and is asking for the public's help to catch her.
Man Shoots Another Dude for Facebook-Messaging His Wife
Clarence Autley received a Facebook message from a woman he hadn't talked to in six years. Ludwika Duarte messaged him, and the two quickly rekindled their friendship over messages and texts. Then Autley got a message claiming Duarte wanted to hang out. So he gave her his address and waited. Instead, Christopher Romoleroux, 22 of Pompano Beach, showed up. He got out of his car and asked Autley, "Why you trying to get with my woman?" Romoleroux then punched Autley and shot him the leg.
Turns out Romoleroux and Duarte have been married since 2012.
Autley was taken to Memorial Regional Hospital in Hollywood with three fractures to his leg, cuts on his face, and a bloody lip. Romoleroux faces charges of attempted murder.
Woman Attempts to Smuggle $300 Worth of Meat in Her Pants Out of a Winn-Dixie
Doris Rowe, 48, was arrested Tuesday for grand theft meat. The woman drove 26 miles to a Winn-Dixie in Deland, Florida, in an attempt to heist some dead heifers. A manager at the store, however, noticed Rowe was trying to stuff meat down her pants and confronted her. Rowe responded by dropping some pork ribs, laundry detergent, and water purifiers, hitting the manager in the neck, and making a run for the parking lot.
Kenneth Edwards, 54, was waiting inside a car, and according to the police report, Rowe jumped head first into the car and the pair sped off. Rowe then began unloading what was left in her pants.
Police caught up to the car and found "five ribeye steaks valued at $123.24, two three-pound packs of ground beef valued at $23.94, four packs of bacon valued at $43.99, two packs of pork ribs valued at $31.09, and a $2.49 gallon of bleach," according to the Daytona Beach News-Journal. Altogether, that's a haul of $361. Both were arrested on charges of grand theft.
