"It would be incomplete if I did not congratulate the City of Miami for having the world champion Miami Heats here in town," President Obama said last night at his event with Marc Anthony at the Fillmore Miami Beach.

Yes, Miami "Heats."

Rush Limbaugh, obviously, is really, really pissed about this.

Was the reference to the "Heats" an innocent, if not kind of goofy slip of the tongue? Or is it something much, much deeper? A sign of immense disrespect?

Of course, Limbaugh has taking the lead in spinning the goof into a full-blown conspiracy theory.

"I think what you need to know is, this is how, in certain sectors, you insult people," Limbaugh said on his radio show, according to WND.com. "You mispronounce the name of their team. You remember, you've seen during the campaign in 2008, Obama would scratch his face only with his flip-the-bird finger while talking about McCain? That's what this was. He was flipping the bird to Heat fans by calling them the Heats."

"Barack Obama is a huge NBA fan. His team is the Chicago 'Bull.' That's his team. The Chicago 'Bull.' The Bulls. People are asking, does he really not know that the name of the champion, NBA champion, team is the Miami Heat? Does he really not know that? I mean he does think it's 'Cominsky' Park in Chicago. Folks, he knows it's not the Miami Heats."

Yes, because clearly Barack Obama was intentionally insulting the team that represents the most solidly Democrat-leaning region in a crucial swing state. That bastard. It's like he'd rather get in a cryptic cheap dig at a sports team by referring to it the same way half the grandmothers in town do by pluralizing the team's name.

And just to pile on the insult, he ended up absolutely trashing two of the Heat's most beloved former players.

"And since one of my favorite people is Alonzo Mourning is here and Tracy Mourning," he continued, "I just want to give them a special shout out. Alonzo looks like he can still play. Hasn't aged a bit... looks the same, except he doesn't have a flat-top."

What a bastards.
