Rick Scott Unveils First Campaign Ad of 2014

Whether you like it or not, the 2014 campaign cycle is officially here. Gov. Rick Scott has unveiled the first ad in his reelection campaign, and while it might be incredibly early, you can't blame the guy for wanting to get a head start in boosting his poll numbers.

The 107-second web ad premieres what appears to be Scott's new slogan, "It's Working" (an update of 2010's "Let's Get to Work") and his main message. Which is basically, "Hey, have you noticed the economy has gotten a little better?"




Absent from the ad is mention of anything Scott has personally done or championed that directly helped Florida's economy. Surely, Floridians will wonder how much Scott really has to do with our slow economic recovery as opposed to private business leaders, federal efforts, or natural cycles in the economy.

However, there is one line that could be taken as a slight diss at Charlie Crist.

"In the four years before I became governor, the state had lost over 825,000 jobs," Scott announces to a crowd that was assembled at a news conference earlier this month at a Central Florida Mazda plant.

Those four years happen to be when Crist was governor.

One less important detail we're hung up on: the way Scott holds a microphone with just his fingertips and not his entire hand. Seriously, what's the deal with that?
