The Simpson family was officially banned from Florida after Homer accidentally killing a famous alligator named Captain Jack in an 11th season episode, but apparently someone in Tallahassee lifted the ban because the Simpsons are officially moving to Florida. And they're bringing the entire town of Springfield with them.
In probably the biggest Florida theme park news since the opening of the Wizarding World of Harry Potter, Universal Studio Florida has announced that they'll open a Springfield street sometime this summer. The new park area will compliment the already existing Simpsons ride in the park, and a new attraction featuring "Treehouse of Horrors" mainstay aliens Kang and Kodos called "Twirl and Hurl" will also be added.
It's ...it's so beautiful.
We'll actually be able to finally taste a Krusty Burger at a real life Krusty Burger. Duff Beer will be exclusively brewed for the park and served on tap at an actual Moe's Tavern and Duff Brewery. Reproductions of Kwik-E-Mart, Cletus' Chicken Shack, and Comic Book Guy's Android Dungeon & Baseball Card Shop will also be built. Oh God, it's like all of our dreams are coming true. We hope they have security around the Jebediah Springfield statue, because we are gonna be so tempted to steal that thing's head.
No official opening date aside from "Summer 2013," but we're just going to let our editor know now that when a firm date is set we're probably going to need it off.
