We can now imagine a scene where Real Housewives of Miami cast member Lisa Hochstein stands in front of her Star Island mansion proclaiming, "Mr. Boob God, tear down this house," while her husband, plastic surgeon, Leonard Hochstein, sits behind the controls of a wrecking ball.
Yes, the Hochsteins no longer have any opposition sitting between them and the ostentatious Star Island home of their dreams. The Miami Design Preservation League has dropped a lawsuit that sought to stop them from destroying the existing 1925 home that stood on the Star Island lot they own.
According to the Miami Herald, the Hochsteins have also agreed to drop their countersuit.
This marks the end to a longstanding battle between the couple and local preservations.
As partially documented on Real Housewives, the couple bought the Star Island home with plans to demolish it and build a new home. Preservations balked and tried everything to get the home saved by declaring it under historic status.
Though, ultimately, the planning board, city administration, and Miami Beach city commission sided with the Hochsteins.
The Hochsteins had maintained that the home had fallen into disrepair under previous ownership and was not worth saving.
"It seems very strange to us that they never cared about this home in the past while it was allowed to deteriorate, " Mrs. Hochstein had written on a Bravo blog. "They also didn't take much interest in the other homes that were demolished before or after."
