All Kaitlyn Hunt had to do to avoid jail time was keep her hands to herself. Although the 19 year old originally faced two felony counts of lewd and lascivious battery for a relationship with a then-14-year-old classmate, she was offered a deal yesterday that would have kept her off the sex offender registry and reduced her charges to misdemeanors. She was on pre-trial release, too, and living at home.

Hunt, who garnered sympathy from the LGBT community, originally faced 15 years of jail time. But yesterday, the state attorneys office said that Hunt violated a court order to keep away from the younger girl, committing a litany of offenses that will almost certainly prevent her from getting away free and clear.

Simply put: Kaitlyn Hunt did it to herself.

The prosecutors' motion states that on March 1, her last day of school, Hunt placed an iPod in the younger girl's locker. The two had almost daily contact through the device, wracking up more than 20,000 text messages and hours of Facetime.

Hunt obviously knew what she was getting into. "Keep the fuck quiet," she told the other girl, according to prosecutors. Growing more paranoid, she said, "If my mom finds out we're talking I'm blaming it on you."

But more damning than the texts are the nude selfies Hunt allegedly left on the phone, including images and videos of her masturbating. In case you don't know what this means, the state attorney's office spells out that this occurred by Hunt "rubbing her vagina with her fingers while moaning."

The two were also meeting up to smoke weed and have sex. This went on up until two weeks ago, when the younger girl told her parents. Enraged, Hunt sent a final missive: "Fuck you...you're stupid...You want me in jail...You're such a messed up person...You snitched on me...God only knows what you'll do when pressured in court. Bye."

Kaitlyn's mom told Riptide yesterday that the two girls hadn't seen each other since a hearing that occurred shortly after Kaitlyn was expelled from Sebastian River High School. However, more texts reveal that Hunt's mom, Kelley, knew the two were continuing their relationship. On March 26, she texted the young girl "PLEASE delete everything and make sure NO ONE finds out you've spoken to Kate at all."

Young love makes people do some stupid, stupid things, such as exchanging 20,000 text messages with another human. But this whole scenario is truly baffling. Kaitlyn Hunt worked her way down from a life-ruining set of charges to what would have been, comparatively, an inconvenience. All she had to do was stay away from the younger girl. She had to take no action, put forth no effort and do nothing to get herself out of some extremely serious trouble. But for some reason that didn't happen.
