Philipe and Sherrine Mathieu have been arrested and charged with 860 counts of child neglect after forcing their own daughter to live outside for eight years. The child, now 16, was forbidden from eating, sleeping, or even using the restroom in the family home, and was forced to do it all outside.

Authorities responded to a tip about sexual abuse taking place at the Little Haiti residence, when they found that the entire family had been living outside on their property. Strangely, the house, which the couple owns, was in fine condition and had electricity and running water. Philipe told authorities that the family was not allowed in the house by the mother because it was being cleaned.

Philipe Mathieu, 62, and Sherrine Mathieu, 42, are being held at pre-trial detention centers as they await their next appearances in court. The girl has been relocated to a Florida Department of Children and Families facility within the county. [NBCMiami]
