While we are sorry our Haitian neighbors had to bear the brunt of a strong Hurricane Ike, we are happy that we dodged that bullet. Instead, we were met with clear blue skies and rather cool Miami weather. It sort of feels like the city is finally waking up out of its slow summer slumber and is ready to have us all hot and bothered by the time Art Basel comes in to town.
But enough of what's to come. Here is what you missed:
Fridays at Heathrow
The area of Washington Avenue, south of Eighth Street, is finally cleaning up its act, and while Dek 23 pioneered the area's Renaissance, it's Heathrow Lounge that's kept the momentum going. Our camera's popped by for a quick photo opp, and we were surprise to see warning signs at the door saying they were filming for a new Bravo reality series called Miami Social. It can't be any worse that 8th & Ocean, right? Click here to view the full slideshow.
Roberto Cavalli Vodka Fashion Show at Aero Bar
What better way to introduce a vodka brand to club patrons than walking it down a runway? Roberto Cavalli Vodka paired its high-end spirit with the designer's clothing. Click here to view part 1 and part 2 of the slideshow.
Brazilian Music Festival 2008 at Seminole Hard Rock Live
Brazil celebrated its independence on Sunday, so Seminole Hard Rock Live made sure to give the South American nation a party to be proud of Saturday night. The event featured performances by Banda Pimenta Malagueta, Capoeira de Brazil, Grupo Samba RJ, Lulu Santos and a surprise appearance by Karina Barros. Click here to view the full slideshow.
