Twelve days ago, we reported how Miami-Dade County Commissioner Natacha Seijas offered Jean Monestime $750,000 in general obligation bond funds set aside for affordable housing in her district so her new colleague could use the money for his more needy constituents. The wicked witch of the northwest did so only after Monestime acquiesced to her request to delay taking $1.5 million away from a project being developed by Opa-Locka Mayor Myra Taylor. Turns out Seijas was full of manatee poo.
According to friendly sources at County Hall, Seijas would have to eliminate funding for projects in her district in order to keep her promise to Monestime.
But that's not gonna happen since Monestime was among Seijas' colleagues who voted to put her on the same recall ballot as Mayor Carlos Alvarez.
Our birdies tell us Seijas sent word to the county's capital improvement project that there was no way she would turn over the $750,000 to Monestime. It's not like Seijas didn't warn him. She did tell him and the other commissioners that their actions against her "could come back to you and haunt you one day."
