Mitchell Burroughs, a Miami-Dade Parks and Recreation manager, might have been spending $12,000 in county money on his own recreation. The manager of the Westwind Lakes Park at 6805 SW 152 Ave. has been arrested and reportedly admitted to embezzling cash and checks.

Burroughs, 29, has been under investigation since last September when the parks department tipped off Miami-Dade Police Department's Public Corruption Investigations Bureau about an employee who may be stealing.

Burroughs was arrested, and during questioning admitted to the embezzlement scheme and has resigned from his post.

He now sits in county jail and is charged with two counts of grand theft.

Somewhere Leslie Knope frowns over  the corrupt behavior of a fellow parks and recreation official.
