Miami Northwestern Senior High School’s varsity team is an unstoppable force. For the fifth consecutive week, the Bulls are ranked number one in the National Prep Poll of high school teams. In the past three games, the maize-and-blue attack has blown out opponents by a combined score of 168 to 21.

But the Bulls are still contending with the scandalous ghosts of season’s past. Tonight at 7 p.m. ESPN will air a special investigative report on the Miami-Dade School District’s cover-up of a sexual trist between former star running back Antwain Easterling and a 14-year-old girl. School officials, including top adminsitrators reporting to Superintendent Rudolph “Rudy” Crew, knew about the incident but did not report it to police.

The cover-up led to the arrest of Northwestern’s principal Dwight Bernard on two felony counts of official misconduct. Following a scathing grand jury report on his administration’s interference, Crew dismissed 21 of Northwestern’s employees, including all of the varsity team coaches. --Francisco Alvarado
