Nearly eight months after being placed on suspension, Charles Hurley, the chief of the Miami-Dade Public Schools police force, has officially been demoted. Now the hunt is on for his replacement.
Hurley is currently facing a lawsuit brought on by two former female officers. Among other things, Hurley is alleged to whipping out his penis in front of and forcibly kissing one of the women. The women said they were victims of retaliation when they tried to speak up.
Hurley was placed on suspension in May when the allegations first came to light.
According to The Miami Herald, Hurley has now been demoted to director of the Region 3 office, and is charged with doing community outreach.
Though Maj. Gerald Kitchell has been acting chief since May, the school district officially began advertising to fill the position full time.
