Are you single and living in Miami Beach? Well, congratulations, you're living in one of the best cities in America to be flying solo, at least according to Livability.com. The Beach came in eighth overall on the site's top ten list of "best cities for singles."

The criteria used reflects the overall quality of life for singles and doesn't rely too heavily on the prospects of finding a mate. Livability.com isn't your mother, texting you every other day about when you're going to find a nice someone and settle down. The list isn't calling you up a little drunk on white wine and saying things, "Well, I just don't understand. What's the point of going out to the dance clubs all of the time if you're not trying to find someone?" The list knows you might even like being single, and it respects that, but if you do want to find someone eventually, too, it respects that choice as well.

In fact here were the factors taken into account:
  • Percentage of population who are unmarried
  • Percentage of population between 20-34
  • Use of online dating websites
  • Went dancing in the last 12 months
  • Watched a romantic movie in last 6 months
  • Visited a nightclub/bar in last 12 months
  • Went to an art gallery in the last 12 months
"The city, which has ranked as one of the best places to live for multiple years, often gets a bad rap for being full of shallow men and women who are more concerned with getting the perfect tan or finding an epic party than a mate," writes the site. "And while there are some of these people, they are far from the typical single person in Miami Beach. Sure, some nightclubs in Miami Beach are often prowled by those looking for a hook-up, but there are many other places where finding the right person doesn’t involve $20 drinks and a glow light."

Exactly! There are plenty of places on Miami Beach with $9 drinks where you can find a hookup — or maybe some sort of long-term dating partner, possibly, sure!

Also, Livability.com wants to make clear it's not just taking straight singles into account either.

"A mix of residents, including a large Hispanic population and a strong LGBT community, create a unique setting where creativity and independence are celebrated. Several beach areas across the city have been declared 'gay-friendly' and include clothing optional sections," the site writes.

Finally, equal representation in website ranking listicles! Even if it mentions the nude beach in doing so.

Anyway, the site seems pretty upbeat on your chances on living a fun single life in Miami Beach, and then maybe one day meeting that one special person and moving to Miami Shores together.

If you're wondering which cities beat us, here's the full top ten:
  1. Carrboro, NC
  2. Hoboken, NJ
  3. West Hollywood, CA
  4. Oxford, MS
  5. San Marcos, TX
  6. Ypsilanti, MI
  7. Ames, IA
  8. Miami Beach, FL
  9. Athens, GA
  10. Moscow, ID
Eh, well, we're probably not moving to Hoboken anytime soon, so Miami Beach will have to do.
