Not exactly a good day for the Miami Police Department. Hours after announcing that they've fired a police officer who fatally shot an unarmed man, another officer has now found himself in trouble.
Twenty-seven-year-old officer Luis Hernandez has been arrested on charges of kidnapping and sexual battery. Hernandez is a seven-year veteran of the force. UPDATED.
A weapon was believed to be involved in the kidnapping.
Hernandez was arrested after a warrant was issued by a Miami-Dade judge. The Internal Affairs Section had completed the investigation into the alleged attack.
No other information was immediately available.
Update: Back in November 2011, Hernandez was charged with taking a 44-year-old woman to jail after she arrested after a she got into a fight at a club in Wynwood. Instead of taking her directly to jail however, Hernandez stopped off on an empty lot along Northeast Second Avenue. He then started to fondle the woman, an undocumented immigrant, and demanded she preform oral sex on him. She continually pleaded with him to stop, and eventually he gave up. DNA evidence finally proved the woman's claims to be true, which caused the judge to issue the arrest warrant.
Hernandez is being held without bail.
