Well, it's another Monday. And I'm back at work editing another couple of blogs, getting set for the afternoon staff meeting, and editing some news stories -- basically having the same life I had before I woke up today.
My friend Cristobal is hammering away at a construction site, Ramon is back serving tables at a restaurant on Eighth Street, and Marylu is out walking Biscayne looking for a john.
Carlos just called with a couple of ideas for an art column he knew he would have to write before he woke up, and funny thing, he sounds kind of excited about the exhibition he wants to review.
We all still have the same personal issues we had before we woke up -- making sure the bills are paid, taking care of an elderly parent who isn't doing too well, making sure the kids get to school on time.
Thousands of Ramons will cook and serve meals, one of which LeBron James might eat and leave a measly tip, and some Cristobal might be doing a little upgrade to LeBron's big ol' mansion so he can make the rent, and just maybe he'll be listening to the radio and humming along before sharing a laugh with the maid who took the bus to clean up after King James.
Meanwhile, LeBron will continue to do the things he wants to do. Like choke and live with the fact that he let his team and an entire city down and let it eat at him for the rest of the summer while all those millions of viewers who were rooting for him to fail -- and, I would imagine, all of those who weren't -- have to wake up and have the same life.
Good luck living with yourself, loser.
