Four more FAMU band members found themselves under arrest for taking part in hazing rituals. The arrests were not related to the November death of drum major Robert Champion, but instead for a separate incidents.
The four --Hakeem Birch, Brandon Benson, Anthony Mingo and Denise Bailey-- are alleged to have beaten five students who wanted to join a clique of the clarinet section known as "the clones." Inductees were lined up according to height before each meeting, and then slapped, punched and paddled. The hazing started back in September.
Three of the alleged Hazers were arrested late yesterday, and the fourth turned himself into police this morning.
Three other band members were arrested in December for allegedly beating a female band members during a hazing ritual. In that case, the student was seeking to join a group of band members known as the "Red Dawg Order." The group was for students who were from Georgia.
So far, no arrests have been made related to the death of Champion.
