More details are coming out in the chilling case of Derek Medina, who shot his wife and posted a picture of her lifeless body and a confession on Facebook. Police have released the 26-page transcript of the statement Medina made to police after he turned himself in after killing Jennifer Alfonso in August.

Medina claims he acted in self-defense, even though Alfonso's autopsy, released today, concluded she might have been kneeling and trying to shield herself before Medina shot her at point-blank range.

"'Cause I'm not a killer. And it was self-defense," Medina said after being asked why he had turned himself in. "I'm very -- I honor my country, I honor my state, I honor my city of South Miami. I do not feel that I'm guilty, and I feel like this was self-defense."

Medina told police that the couple's argument began when Alfonso fell asleep and he didn't wake her up to go on a date night.

"She started throwing stuff, objects towards me as a weapon. And then I pulled out my weapon," Medina said. "And then I told her, 'Hey, back off or I'm going to call the cops.' And she was, 'Go ahead, call the cops, whatever.'"

Alfonso continued to throw things at him, such as towels and shoes, when he took out his gun, originally with the safety on. He alleges that's when Aflonso began punching him.

"She just started throwing punches like crazy. She was like really attacking me. Like I was getting out of the way and got hit in the arm and she was like going for my temple," he told police. "And then also she does make threats upstairs about me dying and she hopes I die, and that she'll get someone to kill me, whatever it is. And she did make those threats upstairs.

"I went downstairs, you know, confronted her, saw what she was doing, and she had a knife in her hand. I grabbed her hand and grabbed the knife in my right hand, put it back in the drawer. She kept on punching me like crazy again, and then I fired."

Medina also admitted he shot Aflonso at least six to eight times.

Alfonso's 10-year-old daughter from a previous relationship was in the home at the time, and Medina said he claimed he posted the photo on Facebook to let people know what had happened so that someone would come to take care of the girl.

Medina has pleaded not guilty to two charges, including second-degree murder. His trial is expected to begin in November.
