The trial of Juan Carlos Portieles, AKA DJ Seasunz, for the murder of his 18-year-old girlfriend Jaclyn Torrealba began this morning.

Portieles was a well-known DJ who specialized in promoting and playing at all-ages parties. The 33-year-old man, who clearly didn't like age restrictions, had been dating the barely legal Torrealba for two years before her murder.

In October 2009, police say Torrealba and Portieles got into a heated argument on the side of a Southwest Miami-Dade road. Portieles allegedly began to bite and hit his young girlfriend. According to the initial police report, Torrealba began to fight back, but the DJ responded by choking her until she died.

Portieles then allegedly put her body in the front seat of his car and drove to several friends' homes to confess what he had done. He eventually showed up at a Doral police station, with the body still in the car, to turn himself in.

Portieles is being tried on charges of second-degree murder.
