Amongst a certain crowd in South Beach, which gym you go to is almost as important as which night clubs you frequent. I found this out first hand when I joined a fancy SoBe Gym, luckily it wasn't Crunch. The "designer gym" chain has twenty-two locations in trendy neighborhoods in six major cities, including two location in South Beach alone.
Reuters reports that they've filed for bankruptcy, siting declining membership and expensive leases. New Evolution Fitness Co plans to acquire the gym.
In the meantime, your six pack will not be effected. The company plans to keeps its two Miami location open during the transition. Though, there's not telling what changes the new owners will make to make the operation profitable.
