When Real Madrid and Chelsea came to Sun Life Stadium for an exhibition game back in August the game came to an odd, temporary stop when a 19-year-old fan ran onto the field to hug superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and whisper sweet little nothings in his ear.
Now the Real Madrid is asking Miami-Dade prosecutors to drop charges against the kid.
Ronald Gjoka, a 19-year-old Palm Beach State student, is facing charges of trespassing and disorderly conduct. Ronaldo wasn't apparently bothered by the incident. He went on to score two goals during the match, so, who knows, maybe he considered Gjoka a bit of a good luck charm.
"I understand your position and the importance of enforcing rules and law," Ronaldo wrote to the Miami-Dade State Attorney's Office, according to Local 10. "However, I respectfully request that you and your office reconsider this decision and dismiss the two criminal charges this young man faces."
Gjoke is in the country on a student visa, and his status could come into question if he's found guilty.
"That was my first time ever going to jail, and I don't want to go back there again," said Gjoka told the station. "He really, really does look out for his fans."
