Craigslist's free online classified ads are at least partially responsible for the downturn in newspaper revenue (leading papers to accept controversial DVD inserts, for example), but a certain section will now charge users to post on its South Florida site. Beginning on October 15th, employers will be charged $25 to post job ads.

Craigslist has always underwritten the rest of its operation by charging for certain ads in New York City and San Francisco, but has gradually extended those charges to other cities. In a forum posting the company claims that the new policy will not adversely effect the number of jobs listed, and that the fee is still nominal compared to those of other job listing sites.

Good news for local pornographers though. The Gigs section, which includes ads for short term and low paying jobs like freelance writing and, oh, fucking on camera will remain free.
