Welcome the latest entrant into the South Florida media cemetery: City Link, the alt(ish)-weekly published by Tribune Corp., which also publishes the Sun-Sentinel. According to our BroCo sister blog the Pulp, the paper is expected to close down in the next couple of weeks.
City Link emerged in the early '90s as XS but was rechristened under its current name in 1997. Since then, it has slowly devolved from a full-fledged weekly newspaper into more of an arts and culture listings rag that focused on Broward County but still found distribution in certain areas of Miami-Dade.
City Link is just the latest in a long list of alt-weeklies to fail in South Florida. It outlasted the Herald's attempt at an alt-weekly, The Street, which was axed in 2005.
