Carlos Gimenez is turning to a trusted face to help him run Miami-Dade County government. Banana Republican has confirmed Gimenez is bringing back Genaro "Chip" Iglesias, whom we predicted last week would be part of the new mayor's team. Iglesias will start in 60 days as chief-of-staff/deputy-mayor at an annual salary of $225,000. He is resigning as manager of the Village of Key Biscayne. He previously served as chief of staff to then county commissioner Gimenez.

Gimenez has also hired Inson Kim, another former commission staffer, as his mayoral executive assistant. That makes Banana Republican two for three on our predictions from last week. The mayor's spokesman, Thomas Martinelli says there are no plans to add Judith Faerron, the former editor of Miami Metro Miami Monthly magazine who consulted on Gimenez's campaign.

The hirings were first reported by blogger Elaine de Valle, who also named other additions to Gimenez's staff including another Gimenez commission office veteran, Frank Balzebre.
