Amanda Brumfield, the estranged daughter of actor Billy Bob Thorton, has been sentenced to 20-years in a Florida prison after being convicted of aggravated manslaughter of a child. The 1-year-old daughter of a friend mysteriously died while in Brumfield's care back in 2008 near Orlando.
The child, Olivia Madison Garcia, who was Brumfield's Goddaughter, died of swelling and bleeding to the brain. Brumfield tried to explain away a 3½-inch fracture found on the girl's skull as a result of a short fall after the toddler tried to climb out of her playpen, but medical experts testified that a fall from such a short distance would not have caused such severe injuries.
Brumfield also waited more than two hours after the incident to call for help. After the accident she also fed the child bananas and painted her toenails.
Brumfield was convicted four months ago on manslaughter charges in the same courthouse as the Casey Anthony trial. Though she was acquitted of first-degree murder and aggravated child abuse charges.
Thorton has had little contact with his 32-year-old daughter since her birth. Thorton divorced Brumfield's mother in 1980, and did not keep up a relationship with his oldest child.
Well, if Thorton wants to rekindle the relationship, he'll know where she'll be for the next 20 years.
