Adam Tavvs, the former Miami Beach cop who was involved in two fatal and questionable shootings within four days back in the summer of 2009, has found himself on the wrong side of the law once again. Tavvs was arrested in Doral over the weekend and charged with battery and false imprisonment. Tavvs was removed from the force last year after he was charged with running a marijuana grow house.
There are few details on Tavvs' latest arrest.
Tavvs fatally shot Husien Shehada, an unarmed tourist from Virginia outside a Miami Beach nightclub in June 2009. Surveillance footage showed that Shehada had turned peacefully toward Tavvs with his hands up before Tavvs shot him.
Four days later he shot and killed Lawrence McCoy, an unarmed carjacking suspect on the MacArthur Causeway.
Tavvs was never disciplined, but put on desk duty. He was eventually relieved of service last year when police found marijuana plants growing in his home.
