It is no secret that I am completely giddy with the upcoming reunion show of the legendary Coke this coming Saturday. So in honor of the Miami bands that created and paved the way of the real Miami Sound, here's a video clip from a jam earlier this year by equally legendary outfit Majesty performing a pair of Santana covers.

These guys hail from the same era that gave this town the aforementioned Coke, the Antiques, Mantrap, and Clockwork all outfits that I'll revisit through my ongoing Blast From the Past series within this blog.

In this video are original members Carlos Hernandez on guitar and Guillermo Sanchez on congas. The young man rocking the living shit out of the timbales is Roly Bazan, nephew of original drummer Tony "Cuco" Perez who sadly passed away this year after a long illness. The current outfit recently had a gig at the Lakes Café.

Miami has such a diverse and rich musical heritage and while the whole world went weird with "disco" during the '70s, Miami-styled disco owed more to Latin and funk rhythms than glitter balls and rampant drug abuse. (However, the latter will forever be tough image to shake, thanks to Miami Vice and the cocaine wars of the '80s.)

In the meantime, enjoy how these guys own these Santana standards in the pure pursuit of a righteous jam after the jump!
