South Florida’s army of independent rappers continues to show its strength this week. While West Palm natives Malc Stewy and Wifisfuneral drop visuals for their fan’s favorite tracks, Miami rapper SIN and North Miami resident Zoey Dollaz keep Dade County hungry for more with fresh verses.
Meanwhile, the anticipation for Fat Joe and Remy Ma’s joint album Plata o Plomo continues to build this week with the release of their next single, “Cookin.” Joey Crack and Remy may have brought French Montana back into the mix, but they believed it was time to introduce the next act to come from the Cartagena blood line: RySoValid. Check out this week’s new releases from South Florida’s rising stars below.
5. Malc Stewy, “Decisions.”
Malc Stewy is on the rise and won’t stop until he gets to the top. The son of a neosoul/jazz vocalist and a father who installed speaker systems in his spare time, this rapper born in Long Beach, CA, and raised in Palm Beach County has been spreading his music across the Sunshine State while opening for major acts like Kevin Gates and MMG’s Gunplay. Now, several months after the release of his fresh EP Turn Out the Lights, Stewy decides to take the (dirt) road less traveled in the official video for track four, “Decisions.”
4. SIN, Victory Lap EP
Miami resident SIN returned to the Dade County rap scene earlier this week with his new EP, Victory Lap. The Rhode Island native, who’s known to fuse his northern vocal style with diverse production reflective of his adopted home state, follows up 2015's Dark Waters with five brand new songs. The EP features production from the Pyrvmids, Nixon, Hooligan, Far Lane, and CityOfficial as well as guest appearances by Bostxn, Xali, and LEGAXY.
3. Wifisfuneral, “Grim.”
Wifisfuneral continues to hype up his fans for the Black Heart Revenge tour by dropping off his ominous video for “Grim.” Directed by Nassacre, the video combines the creepy imagery from the song’s title with the haunting energy that oozes from the record. The South Florida rapper appears brooding as the eerie tune off his critically acclaimed mixtape, Black Heart Revenge, plays and the light from the array of candles reflects off the walls. Enjoy the final visual featuring Wifi’s memorable curls above.
2. Minty Burns and Zoey Dollaz, “What You Bout.”
It’s clear that Zoey Dollaz has been putting in a massive amount of work since being signed by Future’s Freebandz label via Epic Records. Not long after releasing his highly anticipated mixtape Port-Au-Prince, the North Miami native is back with a brand new verse alongside Toronto rapper Minty Burns. Minty and Zoey linked up during All-Star Weekend in Toronto earlier this year to record “What You Bout,” which is slated to appear on Burns’ forthcoming album, The Dispensary. While both MCs turn up at Toronto’s Caribana Festival, enjoy their collaborative effort “What You Bout” above.
1. Fat Joe, Remy Ma, French Montana, and RySoValid, “Cookin.”
Earlier this week, Fat Joe and Remy Ma released their next single off the upcoming joint album Plata o Plomo, "Cookin," and it's a certified banger. The top-charting duo bring back French Montana but decide to add some new flavor to the winning formula. Fat Joe's son and Miami native Ryan "RySoValid" Cartagena hops on the track to show the world that he rips the mike just like his dad.
