Maybe it’s time to step up your Ultra game, from shaking your ass in the crowd to shaking it onstage.
Since 2012, the Ultra Angels have been a key (and, well, superhot and talented) part of the Ultra Music Festival experience. Their sexy, synchronized performances complement the thumpin’ beats and laundry list of DJs.
Now, after recent auditions in Los Angeles and New York City, the group is looking to add new Miami-based Angels to the crew. And, yes, it’s a paid and pretty awesome gig (details below). The Ultra Angels will host an audition Friday, January 4, at Millennium Dance Complex in Miami.
Ultra Music Festival’s entertainment director, Katie Kansas, has a few tips for auditioners.
“Overall look is very important... I prefer a black outfit, and hair and makeup should reflect a natural look at the audition,” she says. “I want to see the personality of a girl and don’t want to be distracted by everything else going on. A lot of people ask about tattoos, height, weight, and that type of stuff. Talent and personality are the most important.”
By skimming Ultra Angels’ Facebook and Instagram feeds, you can pick up on the crew's international, sultry vibe. According to Kansas, about 100 women spanning the globe have been members of Ultra Angels. She’s looking to build a solid squad of 30 dancers.
If you wow at the Magic City auditions, you’ll win a paid dance contract for the Miami show March 29 through 31 in Virginia Key Beach Park. From there, it’s all performance based. If you excel, you can earn show-by-show contracts and all-expenses-paid journeys to upward of 25 Ultra Music Festivals in a calendar year throughout the world, including Australia, South Africa, Brazil, and Spain.
“It can be an intense schedule,” Kansas says. “But once you’re a part of the team, you’re part of the Ultra family. It’s a lot of fun, to say the least.”
