Fridays are typically pretty good, and Saturdays generally rock. But it's Sundays of which we're most fond.

Sure it's the last day of the weekend, and it's only 24 hours removed from the reality of work, traffic, parking tickets, all that shit. But the calm before the weekday storm can be so damn relaxing.

Few things in life are better than day drinking. And Sundays were totally meant for inflatable pools and mid-afternoon keggers.

Peachfuzz at the Garret. Friday, August 17, 11 p.m., The Garret at Grand Central, 697 N. Miami Ave., Miami. Admission is free. Will Friday at the Garret ever get old? No, it won't. See you there.



Reggae Weekend Featuring Jahfe. Friday, August 17, 10 p.m., The Cabaret Stage at Tobacco Road, 626 S. Miami Ave., Miami. Admission costs $5. Celebrate reggae culture this weekend with one of the city's favorite crews.



Palo. Friday, August 17, 8 p.m., PAX, 337 SW Eighth St., Miami. Admission is free before 10 p.m., $10 after. It's a night of "film, food, and funk," featuring a complimentary bar till 9:30 and live music at 11.



Zeitgeist. Friday, August 17, 11 p.m., Chu's Taiwanese Kitchen and Bar, 2728 Ponce De Leon Blvd., Coral Gables. Admission is free. Obscure '80s synth music and $4 beers in the Gables. Life is good.



Deuces Wild. Friday, August 17, 11 p.m., Bougainvillea's Old Florida Tavern, 7221 SW 58th Ave., South Miami. Admission is free. South Miami's best option for live music on a Friday (or any night) is Bougainvillea's.



Teepee, Deaf Poets, Axe and the Oak, Lil Daggers, Toad Eyes, and Jellyfish Brothers. Saturday, August 18, 10 p.m., Churchill's Pub, 5501 NE Second Ave, Miami. Admission costs $5. Some of your favorite local bands are playing Churchill's this weekend, and you'd be a sucker to miss it.



Luna and the Roots. Saturday, August 18, 10 p.m., The Cabaret Stage at Tobacco Road, 626 S. Miami Ave., Miami. Admission costs $5. Y'all are already getting reggae on Friday, so why not infuse Saturday with some "Latin sounds?"



The Tremends and Atom Smash. Saturday, August 18, 11 p.m., Bougainvillea's Old Florida Tavern, 7221 SW 58th Ave., South Miami. Admission is free. Rock 'n' roll! Music's timeless, yo.



Backyard Boogie. Sunday, August 19, Wood Tavern, 2531 NW Second Ave., Miami. Admission is free. Good tunes, plenty of booze, and great BBQ each and every Sunday at Wood Tavern.



Techno Contra Dance. Sunday, August 19, 6 p.m., The Cabaret Stage at Tobacco Road, 626 S. Miami Ave., Miami. Admission is free. A decade ago, everyone wanted to learn how to dance salsa. Now, it's all about techno contra.
