No matter what you think of Sugar Ray, you've got to respect their choice of titles for their upcoming CD: Music for Cougars. You've also got to respect the band that's been around since 1992 and has admitted it's failed at trying to branch out and change their sound. In a recent interview with Billboard, Mark McGrath admitted "We tried to get away from the Sugar Ray sound on our last record... Trying to reinvent ourselves but it didn't really work for us". It's refreshing to hear things like that come from a rockstar's ego (no matter how faded it may be a decade after his last hit). Sugar Ray is bringing the old sound back to Culture Room on August 14. Tickets aren't yet available, but check Ticketmaster when they hit.
