Hip-house meets techno this Friday when DJs Rich Medina and Konrad Black take over the Electric Pickle for a night of eclectic dance grooves.

With a decades-long career firmly rooted in the Philly and New York City underground scenes, Rich Medina is a veritable renaissance man of hip culture, juggling the multiple roles of poet, MC, DJ and producer.

Medina's kept a busy hand in all sorts of musical projects over the years, from collaborative work with R&B singer Jill Scott to his famed DJ residence at Santos Party House in NYC with Q-tip from A Tribe Called Quest. With a broad spectrum of musical styles ranging from deep house and hip-hop to neo-soul and Afrobeat, Medina's vinyl sets are a throwback to the rich sonic palette of the Garage-era DJs.

Residend DJ Tomas of Aquabooty should provide for an appropriate opening set with his signature rare groove and funky disco-house selections.

For those craving some darker and moodier dance fare on Friday night, esteemed DJ/producer Konrad Black, by now a Miami regular, throws down with the SAFE crew on the Pickle's upstairs dancefloor. His Wagon Repair label (co-owned with Mathew Jonson) has emerged in recent years as a global touchpoint for cutting-edge new techno, and with his stark analog grooves, variously bass-driven and atmospheric, Black puts on an enthralling set. Catch him along with SAFE residents Coway and Gil Montiel and special guest Nikko Gibler.

Rich Medina with Tomas of Aquabooty. Kinrad Black with Conway, Gil Montiel and Nikko Gibler. 10 p.m. Friday, June 11. Electric Pickle, 2826 N. Miami Ave., Miami. Tickets in advance from wantickets.com; ages 21 and up. 305-456-5613; electricpicklemiami.com
